Chag

Hello, I'm Chag.

I studied architecture at university and on the side I often painted watercolours as a way to refresh my mind. So I have two forms of creativity: one is physical and functional, the other is imaginary and emotional. Over time I've integrated these two into one and what you see here are my inventions which connect the imaginary world to the actual world.

“Eichhorn peperomioides”
(Hanging light)

I belonged to a group which held an exhibition at a bar. It’s theme was related to plants. So, I made a few works of lighting fixtures extracting the characteristics of some kinds of plants. One of them is Eichhornia peperomioides. It’s shape is like a pancake plant, whose scientific name is "Pilea peperomioides" and it's hung above your head as if it were floating like a water hyacinth, or "Eichhornia". That's why I named my work as biologists name species. Platycerium conchiforme ssp. seductolagineum was a make-to-order work for a visitor at the exhibition. He wanted a punk and erotic one. Then I made a new version of my work "Platycerium conchiforme", or shell-shaped staghorn fern, adding the element of a bunny girl. So this is a subspecies of the fern which is seductolagineum, or seductive and bottle-shaped. Actually I don't remember why I named like this and believe it was a misnaming, anyway misnaming is not rare among scientific names and l go along with it.
