Canopy is an experimental 3D animation set in a fictional world where humanoids are confined to transparent cubes, unable to speak, hear, or escape. The only natural element within these cubes is a sprout, which the humanoids nurture. The animation explores an abstract journey of nurturing voices and perception from within, reimagining connection to the outside world as something forged through the growth of nature and the reconstruction of senses.

Emily Hu is a multimedia artist based in New York, originally from China, whose ever-shifting life between places shapes her creative universe. Guided by a hypersensitivity to her inner world and the fluid, ever-changing external surroundings, she engages in active world-building through video, installation, performance, and digital art. For Emily, visual languages are irreplaceable sustenance—tools to deconstruct, reimagine, and reflect on the hyper-positivity we’re often pressured to conform to. Her work carves out spaces to question, dream, and break free from the confines of a prescribed reality.
